Diverse transport on a multifunctional semi
MAAT Transport drives across Europe with their PL2 6-axle semi low loader purchased in 2023 on a daily basis. The trailer combined with their Volvo FH 6x4 truck is more than capable of transporting different types of loads. Today, therefore, a diverse transport is scheduled for a regular customer of MAAT, namely Hooymeijer Stevedoring.
Multifunctional
Today Henri, driver at MAAT, will transport several loads from Vlaardingen to Schiedam (Netherlands) for Hooymeijer Stevedoring's customer. Henri says "This is not a very special transport, but there is a challenge in the various dimensions and weights of these loads. Given the varying weights ranging between 10 and 50 tonnes, we decided to drive this 6-axle semi with pendular axles. This is to ensure that we are as multifunctional as possible." After the load is secured and it is ready for transport, they depart.
During transport to Schiedam, he says "The biggest advantage of this semi is the pendular axles. Compared to a standard trailer with normal axles, this trailer allows you to turn into almost every corner, despite being a bit longer and wider. It is not always very spacious at loading and unloading locations, so we can make good use of this steered trailer!" Once arrived in Schiedam, Henri is very satisfied with how today's transport went. "This trailer is easy to use and everything is easy to handle. The trailer also looks beautiful and everything is worked out to perfection!"
Trailer purchase
"From the transport division, the need arose for a heavy transport combination up to around 70 tonnes. This is because we also want to continue serving our customers in the heavy transport segment. So the trailer must be deployable in different countries, be suitable for crane ballast and other long, wide and heavy loads" says Arjan Maat (director). So in late 2022, after extensive consultation between MAAT and Broshuis to get the best combination on the road, they purchased this 6-axle PL2 semi low loader. In 2023, they added this semi to their fleet together with their new Volvo FH 6x4 truck.
This combination has now been on the road for over a year and Arjan says he is very satisfied. "Our driver Henri has a wonderful workhorse. Equipped with all kinds of functional options such as remote control on the suspension and steering and a compensating gooseneck for load control. Auxiliary steering and reversible steering on the first axle for turning circle control. Hatz engine with automatic start for quick reaction time to hydraulic functions, during manoeuvring. Certified 10-tonne lashing eyes in the side beam and against the beam for load securing. We are ready for it!"
