11-tonne drill on semi
For the work that Sialtech B.V. performs, they use o.a. heavy earth drills on tracks. The heaviest machine of the company is transported with a Broshuis self-tracking semi low loader.
Operator Mark Murrai works with the CompactRotoSonic High Output XL Max, a 11 ton drill that allows soil samples to be taken at great depth. Mark is actually a "drill master", but he is also a driver on this combination of Sialtech, a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1945 Streamspace with a 3-axle self-tracking semi low loader. The extendable trailer is equipped with ramps for transporting machines. We speak to Mark during his first ride with the combination. “I received this combination span yesterday and this is the first ride. It is still a matter of figuring for me how it all fits best, but at least it drives super comfortable."
Both racks with drill pipes are swiftly placed on the gooseneck and Mark secures the load with stake pots and lashing straps. Then he disappears back into the forest to come back a little later with the drilling machine. Mark maneuvers the tracked vehicle behind the trailer and places the ramps at the correct width. Slowly but surely, the machine climbs over the aluminum ramps onto the trailer. The mini shovel is loaded behind the machine and Mark then starts working with chains. “As I said, it is the first time that the whole set has been loaded on this trailer. That means that I have to figure out how I can best secure everything. Looks like it should work, because there are enough approved lashing eyes to which the chains can be attached. That is important, because safety is absolutely a core value at Sialtech”
