Teletrailer with Roll-Over cover
Broshuis Teletrailer with innovative Roll-Over cover. Martens Transport has been a regular carrier for DeltaStaal for decades. Extendable trailers with Roll-Over covers are used for the distribution of long-blasted steel beams. As a result, blasted steel remains rust-free and clean during transport. Recently a new Broshuis double extendable platform trailer was added to the fleet with an innovative Roll-Over system. The innovative sliding system allows the driver to work faster and safer.
The principle of the platform trailer with a harmonica or sliding cover is not new, but until now such a trailer has been quite laborious. ,, When the trailers were extended, an extension rail had to be mounted over which the sliding cover runs. Sometimes the platform had to be extended by adding partitions to it. Waterproof also means that splash water must be stopped from below." Patrick Douma is speaking. He is responsible for sales at Broshuis Trailers in the South of the Netherlands. He explains: ,, We have now devised this new construction in collaboration with Theo van Holten and bodywork company Stam in Obdam. The Roll-Over is equipped with double rollers that ensure that the cover continues to flow when extended. The aluminum platform also extends, making it much faster for the driver to work."
Safe and fast
The new three-axle double extendable Broshuis trailer can be extended to 29 meters. The sliding cover has a length of 26.5 meters, which is more than five meters longer than the previous generation. Director René Martens of Martens Transport: ,, For us is this a wonderful solution with which we have an answer to the increasing demand for length transports. With this new trailer it’s avoided that long blasted steel has to be sailed. This is more user-friendly and safer for drivers and also saves time when loading long blasted steel beams. For that reason we have been working with sliding covers for some time, but in our opinion this is a very nice next step. For us this is the second Broshuis trailer and we are especially confident in the cooperation between Broshuis and the Roll-Over sliding cover of Stam from Obdam. The collaboration between the two companies has resulted in a very practical transport solution for our specific work at DeltaStaal."
Corporate indentity
Both the trailer and the towing MAN truck are designed in the Corporate identity of the Salzgitter Mannesman steel trade, the parent company of Deltastaal. ,, We found our green Martens house style less suited to this orange-gray trailer. That is why we also made the tractor in these colors. The result is a beautiful calling card for our customer, DeltaStaal."
Driver Ewald Bakx works with the new Broshuis trailer and he likes it very much. ,, It is a great trailer to work with. Everything works very driver-friendly and efficient, which makes loading and unloading very smooth." The trailer is equipped with three power steered axles that can also be controlled remotely from the cabin. This is especially useful when maneuvering in tight unloading locations.
Martens transport
Martens Transport originated in the 1930s. Initially, the focus was mainly on the transport of sand and soil. Only later did people start to specialize in heavy and special transport. The fleet consists of twenty towing units and various semi-trailers such as low-loaders, semi-low-loaders and extendable trailers. Martens Transport is mainly active in the Benelux and Germany and transports loads up to a length of over 30 meters and a weight of 60 tons.
