Flexible and efficient
Simon, driver at Mud Grond- en Transportwerken, gets to hit the road today with their latest 4-axle self-tracking low loader. Specialising in earthmoving and transport work, he gets to transport a Volvo EWR170E excavator. This transport is very efficient thanks to the recent further development of the 3- and 4-axle self-tracking steered semi low loader from Broshuis.
At Mud Grond- en Transportwerken, the phone keeps ringing. Geert, the planner, has a wide range of trailers at his disposal. One of the latest additions is the 4-axle self-tracking low loader on 205 tyres. "We are very happy with this trailer," says Geert. "During the further development of the self-tracking semis, Broshuis reduced the tare weight up to 15%, resulting in a high load capacity. Moreover, the trailer is exceptionally low and very robust. This makes it possible to use this semi to transport heavy machinery for which you would otherwise have to use a low loader. Thanks to the versatility of this trailer, a return load can almost always be scheduled!"
Today we are joining Simon, an experienced driver from MUD, on the road with this semi low loader. Before we leave, he easily drives the Volvo EWR170E onto the trailer via the aluminium ramps and starts securing the load. "This trailer is already popular among the drivers at MUD," Simon explains. "After all, loading and unloading couldn't be easier - you can transport almost all machines on this trailer. Thanks to the thoughtful positions of the lashing rings, you can take full advantage of the perfect weight distribution, securing your load safely and effortlessly!"
During the drive to a nearby sand plain, the trailer continues to follow the truck well. "You can see that the trailer follows steadily. I always like this and it makes you feel safe as a driver," Simon says. On arrival, he easily manoeuvres the combination to the delivery location, gets out and positions the aluminium ramp so that he can unload the excavator smoothly.
Mark Mud (owner) is also very satisfied with this improved self-tracking semi. "Besides the well-known Broshuis quality, the tare weight of this trailer is a big advantage. It also still has a high useful load capacity, despite the low loading floor. We achieved this by choosing 4 axles instead of 3 axles. This therefore makes this semi low loader a kind of 'wheelbarrow' for us, as we never know what we will be transporting next week or the week after. One thing is certain with this trailer.... When a customer calls, I know it is possible and fits, which is very important to me!"
